Developed by the FA and FSA drivers of the 1998 European and World Championchips. The Ribtec rib protection belt has been tested on the most demanding rubber covered tracks which place exceptional forces on the ribs and body.
During these races the Tillett Race Support service uncovered rib problems that could not be overcome with the seat alone, and very few rib protectors were of any use in preventing injury or protecting already damaged ribs. The patented design works by transfering the pressure from the side of the seat, away from the ribs that are easily damaged and on to abn area of the torso which is much stonger. |

| The Ribtech
must be worn high up under the arms to give maximum protection. For maximum
comfort use it over a t-shirt but underneath your racesuit as shown in
the diagram opposite.
When fitting make sure that the gap at the front is roughly 10-15cm in width. If the belt gap is too big or no gap exists, the level of protection afforded will be reduced. The top of the belt must be above that of the seat to be effective. Test the belt before any modification takes place as the belt needs the full width to remain in position. Storage of the belt should be flat or wrapped around your crash helmet. Curling the belt up in a tight roll, or creasing it in half could leave it permanently damaged. The velcro strap can be cut to size when you are happy with the length needed Size Guide It is quite normal for your Ribtech to be one size smaller than your Tillett seat, so it does not always follow that if you use a MS seat you will need an MS Belt. A RibTech belt will either be the size of your seat or one size smaller. Chest measurements should be taken with a measuring tape pulled tight at chest height. The ladies Ribtec has some modifications over the standard Ribtec. The shape has been modified to allow for the bust, and because kart seats are always designed for men, extra thickness has been added to compensate for the small female torso. Women should measure directly under the bust-line. |
